ACTIVITIES

Grassland Safari Lodge is a hub of excitement and adventure! While guests are welcome to relax and enjoy the unique ambiance of the lodge, there’s always something new to explore. Our exclusive location allows us to offer activities that are either unique to Grassland or exceptionally different from those found elsewhere, ensuring an unforgettable experience. Our five main activities include a comprehensive San (Bushman) experience, morning and afternoon game drives, a distinctive predator protection project, rhino tracking, and horseback safaris that bring guests closer to wildlife. Please note that horseback riding is reserved for experienced riders, and bookings must be made in advance as helmets are not provided.

GAME DRIVES

Grassland Safari Lodge boasts exhilarating game drives across the Kalahari grasslands, providing guests with unforgettable encounters with a myriad of wildlife. From the regal Gemsbok to the nimble springboks and the elusive rhinoceros, the Kalahari unfolds a rich tapestry of animal life.

Predator Project

Neeltjie and Tiaan are passionate about sharing their expertise on the Predator Project, is a campaign of hope that tirelessly works towards the rescue and rehabilitation of lions, leopards, and a particular focus on the rare African Wild Dogs.

Cultural Experience with San Family

Neeltjie stands as a beacon of knowledge, boasting an almost unrivaled understanding of the San culture. Fluent in Naro, the primary language of the Bushmen, she opens a gateway for guests to delve into the lives of these captivating people. As a sixth-generation descendant with familial ties intricately interwoven with the Bushmen, Neeltjie brings a treasure trove of insights into their customs, culture, cuisine, and philosophy, making our Bushman interaction profoundly different and authentic. From walks to toolmaking, to village life immersed with pearls of wisdom from the world’s oldest living culture, the experience is both exceptional and profound.

HORSEBACK SAFARIS

Horseback safaris in the Kalahari offer a unique way to explore the breathtaking landscapes and rich wildlife of the region, allowing riders to connect with nature and experience its beauty up close.
